GALIBIER/In 2025, we relaunched “GALIBIER,” an outdoor footwear brand that has long been popular primarily in France, with a new collection aimed at the global market.
With a Century of Philosophy as Our Foundation
We create shoes made from sustainable natural materials that can be worn for a long time, even after repeated repairs.
This is the foundation of GALIBIER’s craftsmanship, passed down for over 100 years.
Inheriting the techniques honed in the French Alps and the spirit of walking in harmony with nature, GALIBIER aspires to be a bridge that reconnects people with nature.
We cherish a spirit of inquiry and strive to minimize our environmental impact while passing on our passion for craftsmanship to future generations.
Now, let’s set out on a new path—together with GALIBIER.
ISLAND SLIPPER/“Island Slipper” has been manufactured on Oahu, Hawaii, since its founding in 1946.
The company traces its history to Musashi Motonaga (Takazo Motonaga), a Japanese immigrant to Hawaii who created the prototype for the sandals,
which were later industrialized and developed by his son, Edward Motonaga.
In 1986, Mr. Motonaga handed the reins to John Carpenter (current president),
and the “Island Slipper” brand has grown significantly into a world-class sandal manufacturer.
The philosophy established at the company’s founding—“a resort sandal manufacturer that handles everything from design to manufacturing right here in Hawaii”—
remains unchanged to this day, and all products are “Made in Hawaii.”
The factory contains almost no precision machinery; each pair is handcrafted by skilled artisans
and is imbued with the love of the artisans and the president, John and Daisy, who watch over the process.
Filled with such love and the warmth of handcrafted artistry, “Island Slipper” is vastly different in character from ordinary beach sandals worn at the beach.
